Teton Valley, Idaho is the perfect winter destination for the skiers, snowshoers, snowmobilers and ice-skaters among us. With two ski resorts—Grand Targhee and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort—and plenty of other winter activities available like fat biking, Nordic skiing and snowshoeing, you’ll find something to do no matter what your winter passion is. Plus, when you visit Teton Valley you can also explore nearby Yellowstone National Park. Grand Targhee Resort
The Grand Targhee Ski Resort is located on the western slope of the Tetons just across from Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in Alta, Wyoming. With over 2200 acres of lift-served terrain and an annual average snowfall of over 500 inches, it’s no wonder why this resort is a favorite among skiers and snowboarders. Whether you choose to take a lesson or try out difficult runs on your own, there’s something for everyone here. Don’t forget about the award-winning kids programs too!
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort offers stunning views of the Tetons from its 4500+ acres of terrain with over 2500 feet of vertical drop. This resort boasts a variety of terrain to suit all levels from beginner to expert including steep chutes, trees and groomed runs. If you’re looking for even more adventure check out their backcountry tours or sign up for one of their avalanche safety courses – they even have a guided cat skiing experience!
Fat Biking
If skiing isn’t your thing then consider taking a fat bike ride through Teton Valley instead! Fat biking is a great way to explore the area without breaking the bank – just rent one from one of the local shops and hit the trails!
Nordic Skiing
Or if you prefer cross-country skiing then try Nordic skiing through Grand Targhee’s scenic trails or go on an organized tour with one of many experienced guides in town.
Snowshoeing
Teton Valley also has plenty to offer if you’re looking for something off-the-slope like Snowshoeing – a popular activities here during wintertime! If you want to explore further than what’s accessible by foot then head out on a guided snowshoe tour – these are available year round at various locations throughout Teton Valley. You can also rent a pair of snowshoes and go exploring on your own – there are endless trails around town that offer beautiful views and plenty of wildlife sightings too!
Snowmobiling
Nestled in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, Teton Valley, Idaho offers an enchanting landscape that is especially breathtaking during winter. And what better way to explore this snowy paradise than on a snowmobile? Teton Valley offers a myriad of snowmobiling opportunities that cater to both beginners and seasoned riders.
Ice Skating
If you’d rather stay off the slopes altogether then consider giving ice skating a try at Driggs City Park or the Kotler Ice Arena in Victor – both offer public skating sessions during winter months (weather permitting).
Yellowstone National Park in the Winter
And don’t forget about visiting nearby Yellowstone National Park too – it’s only about an hour away and offers spectacular views as well as access to geothermal features like Old Faithful Geyser, mudpots and hot springs that are sure to be unforgettable experiences!
